Ningnan County, under the Liangshan Prefecture of Sichuan Province, is located in the southeast of Liangshan Prefecture, bounded by the Jinsha River in the east, across the water from Qiaojia County, Yunnan Province, adjacent to Huidong County in the south, Huili County in the west, and Huili County in the northwest. Dechang County is connected, and Puge County and Butuo County are connected to the north. The total area is 1670 square kilometers.
Ningnan County was founded on January 1st in the twentieth year of the Republic of China (1931). It was named “Ningnan” because it was located to the south of the Ning family (reorganization committee). It has been an important passage from Sichuan to Yunnan since ancient times.
