Luxi County, under the jurisdiction of Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in Hunan Province, is located in the southeast of Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, with a total area of 1565 square kilometers. Luxi County has jurisdiction over 7 towns, 4 townships, and 1 township-level unit. The county government is located in Wuxi Town. Luxi County has a humid mid-subtropical monsoon climate. As of the end of 2019, the county has a permanent population of 292,100 and a total population of 191,100 ethnic minorities. It is a minority county dominated by Tujia and Miao nationalities.
In the second year of Tang Wude (619), Luxi County was founded. In 1957, it belonged to the Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture of Xiangxi. There are Jiaoliu Railway, 319 National Road, and Hangrui Expressway passing through the county. On December 26, 2017, it was rated as the fifth batch of national unity and progress demonstration areas (units) by the National Civil Affairs Commission. On March 6, 2019, the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and the National Cultural Heritage Administration announced the announcement of the “Revolutionary Cultural Relics Protection and Utilization Film Division List of Counties (First Batch ) “Notice” Luxi County is listed among them. On February 29, 2020, the Hunan Provincial People’s Government agreed to withdraw Luxi County from poverty-stricken counties. There are scenic spots such as the ancient town of Pu City and the Nengtan Suspension Bridge in the county.
