Wulian County is a county under the jurisdiction of Rizhao City, Shandong Province, China. It is located in the southern part of Shandong Peninsula, east of Qingdao West Coast New District (Huangdao District), south of Donggang District of Rizhao City, west of Juxian County of Rizhao City, and north of Zhucheng of Weifang City. The county was established in May 1947, named after the beautiful Wulian Mountain in the territory. At the end of 2018, Wulian County had a total registered population of 513,610 people.
When Wulian County was founded, it was composed of some districts and townships of the original three counties of Jubei, Ribei, and Zangma, which belonged to the Binbei Prefecture of Jiaodong District; Binbei Prefecture was abolished in May 1950 and changed to Jiaozhou Prefecture; Jiaozhou was revoked in March 1956 The prefecture was changed to Changwei prefecture; in 1992, Weifang was transferred to Rizhao.
Wulian County has successively been awarded as China’s Most Beautiful Ecotourism Demonstration City, “National AAAA Tourist Scenic Spot”, “National Forest Park”, “Shandong Tourism Powerful County”, and National Garden County.
The geographical coordinates of Wulian County are 118°55′-119°32′ east longitude and 35°32′-35°59′ north latitude, with a total area of 1497 square kilometers.
