Li County is affiliated to Longnan City, Gansu Province. The name of the county originated from the place name “Lidian”. The Lidian Wenzhou Marshal’s Mansion was established, and “Li” was later changed to “Li”. It was not officially named Lixian until the Ming Dynasty. Li County is located in the southeast of Gansu Province, in the north of Longnan City. The Jialing River in the Yangtze River Basin is in the upper reaches of the Western Han River. It is adjacent to Tianshui Qinzhou District and Xihe County in the east, Tangchang and Min County in the west, and Wudu District in Longnan City in the south. Wushan County and Gangu County border; it covers an area of 4299.92 square kilometers, with a total population of 536,817 and a permanent population of 472,300 (2017). As of October 2019, Li County has jurisdiction over 22 towns and 7 townships.
