Emeishan City, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Sichuan Province, is managed by Leshan City. Located on the southwestern edge of the Sichuan Basin, bordering the Northeast and West Sichuan Plain, and connecting the Daliangshan and Daliangshan Mountains to the southwest, it is a transition zone from the basin to the high mountains. The city covers an area of 1183 square kilometers, and governs 2 streets, 10 towns and 1 township.
Emei was the land of Shu Kingdom. From the Shu Han period to the Jin Dynasty and the Northern and Southern Dynasties, it was under the jurisdiction of Nan’an County (now Leshan City), a county under the jurisdiction of Nan’an County (now Leshan City). County, Emei County was established in the Republic of China and after the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
Mount Emei City is named after the mountain. Mount Emei within its territory is a world natural and cultural double heritage, a national 5A-level scenic spot and one of China’s four major Buddhist mountains. Seven core cultures of “Confucianism, Buddhism, Taoism, Food, Tea, Martial Arts, and Medicine” have been formed. There are 3 national core cultural relics protection units and 1 intangible cultural heritage.
